Ecole Centrale Paris Alumni Gala
On November 5, 2012, some 40 alumni from New York and the region participated in the first Gala dinner organized for their community in the United States. The host, Consul General Mr. Bertrand Lortholary, welcomed the alumni to the salons of the Consulate General of France in New York, where the event was held.
It was in this prestigious setting that Hervé Biausser presented the future campus’ architectural project and fundraising campaign, in the presence of architect Clement Blanchet from the Office for Metropolitan Architecture.
Several objects were sold in the auction, including a sculpture inspired by the model of the campus, which went to Emma and Hugues Lavandier, President of the US Ecole Centrale Alumni group.
Pierre Vareille also gave an introduction to the School’s US Alumni, tracing its history and particularly highlighting William Le Baron Jenney (1832-1907), who is seen as the father of the American skyscraper.
