Mr. Howard Milstein Chevalier in the French Legion of Honor
Mr. Howard Milstein was bestowed the insignia of Chevalier in the French Legion of Honor by Mr. François Delattre, French Ambassador to the United States, on Thursday April 24, 2014, during a special ceremony held at the Consulate General of France in New York.
The highest distinction awarded by the French government was established by Napoléon Bonaparte, to reward remarkable and extraordinary accomplishments in the military, public and private spheres. The order of the Legion of Honor is divided into 5 degrees: Chevalier (Knight), Officier (Officer), Commandeur (Commander), Grand Officier (Grand Officer) and Grand’ Croix (Grand Cross). The recipients are named by a presidential decree.
