Tution Aid: General Information

Academic scholarships are not a right: they are awarded every year within the limits of the funds allocated to the program. The amount of financial aid granted to families, based on a comparable situation, can therefore vary from one year to the next.

Academic scholarships only cover tuition fees, annual fees and first enrollment fees. Extracurricular scholarships (maintenance, group transportation, exam registration…) are only awarded in exceptional cases.

Applications for scholarships are not automatic and must be renewed every year.
Any application submitted past the deadline will neither be considered nor presented to the local committee.

Any incomplete or incorrect statement can result in being excluded from the scholarship program.

Any administrative appeal following a rejection by the second commission must be justified by a significant change of circumstances for the family. It must be submitted to the Director of the Agency for French Teaching Aboard, via the Consulate.

Scholarships are paid directly to the schools, which then issue a refund to the families, based on the financial aid percentage and the deposit paid by the family at the time of enrollment.

Guidelines and general conditions for scholarship allocation

You can find information online on the website for the Agency for French Teaching Abroad (AEFE).
Scholarships can be awarded to students with French citizenship (attending schools accredited by the French Ministry of National Education).

- Consulate registration : Children MUST be registered with the Consulate in order to qualify. The same goes for the PARENT who applies for a scholarship, even if he/she is a foreign national.

Please note: Do make sure that your registration is still valid (for both parents and children) by checking your account at MonConsulat.fr (Registration on the French Nationals Living Abroad registry is valid for 5 years). Your registration must be valid when you submit your application.

If your registration has expired, please renew it by sending an email to the following address: chancellerie@consulfrance-newyork.org, and explaining the urgency of your request.
