Work visas

Attention - Processing of long stay visas takes a minimum of one week.

TEACHING ASSISTANT VISA

This Consulate will only accept applications from residents of the States of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Bermuda.

The Consular Administration has full authority to evaluate and request more documents than those submitted by the applicant. Obtaining a visa is not always guaranteed and does not in itself grant you the right to enter a French or Schengen territory. It is therefore necessary that you always carry with you the original documents used to obtain the visa.

Requirements

1 long stay application form and 1 passport photograph
The form must be completely and legibly filled in with black or blue ink, signed by the applicant and dated. The photo must be recent, passport size - 2" x 2" (4,5cm x 4,5cm) and showing the full face, the forehead hairline and ears on a white background.

One O.F.I.I form. Please only complete the top part, refering to: "Rubrique à remplir lors de la demande de visa". Make sure the dates are stated in this order: day, month, year.

Passport or travel document (+ 1 copy of the identity page and the validity of the passport) valid for at least three months following the last day of your stay in France. The validity of your passport cannot exceed 10 years from the date of first issuance. Make sure the passport has at least two blank pages left for visa purpose. Only these pages can be endorsed with the visa. Amendment pages can in no way be used for visas.

(A long stay visa cannot be issued on a Refugee Travel Document or a Re-entry Permit).

A U.S.A. residency card (Green Card) or I-551 stamp, or a valid U.S.A. visa with I-94, IAP66 or I-20 when applicable or an Advanced Parole, which must be valid for at least 90 days beyond the last day in France. (+ 1 copy)

Your "Arrêté de nomination" / Nomination agreement stamped by the French Labour Department (Direction Régionale des Entreprises, de la Concurrence, de la Consommation, du Travail et de l’Emploi - DIRECCTE). (+ 1 copy)

PROFESSOR/RESEARCH SCIENTIST VISA

short stay (1-90 days): valid for the Schengen countries
long stay (more than 90 days): valid for France only

A spouse, minor child(ren), and/or adult child(ren) and dependent(s) must prove their status in the U.S.A. and relation to the holder of the Protocole d’Accueil (copy of marriage certificate and/or birth certificate) in order to follow the same procedure.

EMPLOYER SPONSORED VISA / O.F.I.I.

Procedure

1. Applicant must obtain an offer of employment in France.

2. The employer in France must file an application for working papers at the relevant Labour Department (Direction Régionale des Entreprises, de la Concurrence, de la Consommation, du Travail et de l’Emploi - DIRECCTE) for the prospective employee. If the applicant is married, the employee must state, when applying, so that visas can be authorized for accompanying family members.

3. When the file is approved by the O.F.I.I., it will be sent to the appropriate French Consulate, from which the applicant will receive a letter in order to make an appointment.

Letter or fax from the hotel confirming your reservation,
or If you are staying with family or friends, an "Attestation d’Accueil" which your family or friend must obtain at the City Hall in France. The original needs to be stamped by our office to be valid and must be presented upon arrival in France,

Financial guarantee (+ 1 copy)

- your last monthly bank statement, not a summary,

- your last 3 paystubs,

- a letter from the employer in the U.S.A. stating your annual salary,

- if your financial means are not sufficient, you may also provide a notarized letter from your sponsor stating that he/she will be responsible for all your expenses and proof of his/her financial means (latest bank statement).

Medical insurance
A letter from your insurance company (+ 1 copy) stating that you will be covered for any medical expenses, hospitalization and repatriation for at least 45,000 U.S.Dollars during your stay in Europe. If your current insurance company does not provide such a coverage, you have to find an international insurance company(do not forget to ask for the letter mentioned above).

A letter from the modelling agency mentionning the name of the person responsible for the minor in France and with the address of the accomodation in France
or

- Parental authorization
Letter of the parents/gardian allowing the minor to travel to France as part of the fashion model work and mentioning the address of the minor during the stay

A parental authorization form signed by both parents, allowing the minor to apply for a visa (together with a copy of both parents passports and a birth certificate of the minor)
